FIBROVX
Emerging Industries
Data centers, battery storage, EV charging, hydrogen, offshore wind, semiconductor fabs, 5G and solar all need cable routes, walkways, covers and structures that resist corrosion or must not conduct electricity. This page explains where FRP fits in each sector. Where we have no catalog product, the item is custom and available on request. For established sectors, see Industries We Serve.

Why FRP fits new energy and digital infrastructure
- Non-conductive. Glass-fiber FRP is an electrical insulator, and the NEC permits nonmetallic cable tray in corrosive areas and where voltage isolation is needed[1].
- Corrosion-resistant. FRP does not rust in salt air, humidity or chemical fumes. See our chemical resistance guide.
- Lightweight. FRP is much lighter than steel, which simplifies overhead and rooftop installation. See FRP profiles vs steel and aluminum.
- Fire-retardant resin options. Fire-retardant resin systems can be quoted on request. Flame spread is measured by tests such as ASTM E84[8]; test data is confirmed per item, and no rating is claimed here. See fire performance of FRP grating.
- Custom profiles. Pultrusion produces constant cross-sections in continuous lengths, so custom shapes can be made to your drawing. See what is pultrusion and custom FRP manufacturing.
Data center racks and cable management
Data centers carry dense power and data cabling. Where a site rejects heat through evaporative cooling towers, the towers need water treatment to control scale and corrosion[9].
Where FRP fits: non-conductive cable tray where voltage isolation or a corrosive area (such as a cooling plant or coastal rooftop) applies; lightweight pultruded frames and supports. FRP equipment racks and frames are custom, available on request.
Products: FRP cable trays, pultruded profiles, FRP cooling towers, rooftop grating walkways.
Guides: FRP cable tray guide, cable tray load and span selection, installing FRP cable tray, FRP cooling towers.
Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Stationary energy storage installations are governed by NFPA 855[2]. Many are outdoor sites with cable runs between containers, inverters and switchgear.
Where FRP fits: non-conductive cable tray and supports, walkways and access platforms around containers, and marker posts for buried cable routes. Fire-retardant resin can be specified. FRP battery enclosures and racks are custom, available on request; FIBROVX does not supply listed battery equipment.
Products: cable trays, cable supports, molded grating, handrail, marker posts.
Guides: FRP cable tray standards, choosing a cable tray type, marker posts.
EV charging
EV charging equipment is covered by NEC Article 625[3]. Chargers need underground cable routes, pull boxes and trench covers, often in parking areas.
Where FRP fits: trench covers made from grating, cable supports, and composite covers for pull boxes and chambers. FRP bollards and delineator posts are custom, available on request, for guidance only and not as impact-rated charger protection.
Products: molded grating trench covers, manhole covers, cable supports, marker posts.
Guides: EV charging stations: FRP trench covers, bollards and cable supports, FRP manhole covers vs cast iron. Automatic single-piece covers can be made to EN 124-5; hand lay-up covers are outside EN 124-5.
Hydrogen
Hydrogen production, storage and use are covered by NFPA 2[4]. Electrolyzer and fueling sites combine electrical equipment, process water and outdoor exposure.
Where FRP fits: non-conductive cable tray, grating walkways, handrail, and pultruded structures; process water and chemical tanks. Hydrogen-wetted pressure equipment is outside our scope. Other FRP parts are custom, available on request.
Products: cable trays, molded grating, handrail, pultruded profiles, chemical tanks.
Guides: designing an FRP platform, FRP storage tanks.
Offshore wind
ISO 12944-2 places offshore atmospheres in its extreme corrosivity category, CX[5][10]. Transition pieces, platforms and offshore substations need access and cable routes that will not rust.
Where FRP fits: grating, handrail, ladders and cable trays for platforms and substations. Specific project structures are custom, available on request. Marine approvals are not claimed; confirm the requirements with your certifying body.
Products: molded grating, handrail, ladders, cable trays.
Guides: molded vs pultruded grating, FRP handrail systems, FRP ladders.
Semiconductor fabs
Fabs exhaust corrosive fumes. FM Global guidance calls for fume exhaust duct that is either noncombustible metal or FM Approved to Approval Standard 4922 for cleanroom use[6][12]. FIBROVX does not hold FM approval, so we do not offer cleanroom exhaust duct.
Where FRP fits: wet scrubbers for acid exhaust[11], chemical storage tanks, wastewater equipment, and grating in utility and wastewater areas, all outside the cleanroom. Other items are custom, available on request.
Products: acid fume scrubbers, chemical tanks, FRP fans, molded grating.
Guides: FRP scrubbers, packed bed scrubber sizing, FRP tanks for hydrochloric acid.
5G and telecom
Denser networks need more underground handholes, cable routes and street-level equipment. Underground enclosures in North America are rated to ANSI/SCTE 77 tiers[7].
Where FRP fits: composite covers, cable supports, wound cable conduit and marker posts. FRP equipment enclosures and screening panels are custom, available on request.
Products: manhole covers, cable supports, filament-wound cable conduit, marker posts.
Guides: FRP for telecom infrastructure, marker posts.
Solar
Photovoltaic systems are covered by NEC Article 690[3]. Utility-scale sites have long outdoor cable runs and many buried cable routes.
Where FRP fits: non-conductive cable tray, marker posts for buried cables, and grating walkways. Pultruded mounting rails are custom, available on request.
Products: cable trays, marker posts, molded grating, pultruded profiles.
Guides: FRP cable tray guide, FRP pultruded profiles guide, marker posts.
Every product is made to order and can be customized in size, resin, color and fittings. Dimensions, test data and drawings are confirmed in writing with each quotation. FIBROVX does not claim third-party certifications or approvals on this page; where a project requires one, tell us in your inquiry and we will confirm in writing what can be supplied.
